Ganryu – The Comme des Garçons heritage revisited

Founded in 2007 by Fumito Ganryu at Comme des Garçons, the Ganryu label distinguished itself with a hybrid approach between tailoring and streetwear. Its silhouettes blended deconstructed suits, technical fabrics, and sportswear influences.

In 2017, Fumito Ganryu left CDG to launch his own eponymous brand. He developed a personal vision: a functional and urban wardrobe, combining Japanese elegance with a touch of sporty modernity.

Today, Ganryu occupies a unique place in contemporary Japanese fashion, renowned for its Made in Japan creations with precise and innovative cuts. Both his CDG-era pieces and those from his current label are highly sought after on the premium secondhand market, reinforcing his reputation as the creative heir to Rei Kawakubo.
