Junko Koshino – Textile Architecture and Stage Performance

Junko Koshino (born in 1949 in Osaka) is one of the most influential Japanese designers of the 1980s and 1990s. Her world, inspired by architecture and design, gives rise to sculptural silhouettes where rigor and theatricality meet. Present in Paris, New York, and Tokyo, she has contributed to the international recognition of avant-garde Japanese fashion.

Koshino has also distinguished herself in the creation of costumes for opera, dance and large cultural ceremonies, confirming her ability to transform clothing into a total spectacle.

His pieces from the 1980s and 1990s, often monochrome and constructed like architectural volumes, are now highly sought-after in archives and high-end second-hand stores. They embody a futuristic aesthetic that anticipates contemporary conceptual fashion.

At KIZUNA Paris, we highlight this Made in Japan heritage, which is valuable for understanding the evolution of the avant-garde.
