Junko Shimada – Timeless elegance between Paris and Tokyo
Junko Shimada (born in 1941) moved to Paris in the early 1980s and developed a unique style, between Parisian chic and Japanese sensibility.
Known for her refined silhouettes and playful approach to color and pattern, she quickly became a key figure on the Parisian scene. Through her shows, she combines classicism, eccentricity, and humor, making each collection a balancing act between elegance and modernity.
Shimada's strength lies in his ability to create wearable and sophisticated fashion, rooted in everyday life yet always surprising in its details. His vintage pieces, made in France and Japan, occupy an important place in the luxury secondhand market. They seduce with their timelessness and understated creativity, embodying another facet of the Japanese avant-garde adapted to the Western world.
