Kansai Yamamoto – Exuberance and Spectacle

A flamboyant designer of the 1970s and 1980s, Kansai Yamamoto (1944–2020) is best known for his exuberant stage costumes, notably worn by David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust. He was one of the first Japanese to show in London (1971), paving the way for the international acceptance of Japanese fashion.
His world: bright colors, kabuki-inspired patterns and theatrical silhouettes, where clothing becomes performance.

The main lines of Kansai Yamamoto:

Kansai Yamamoto (1971) – Original line. Flamboyant costumes, kabuki prints and stage exuberance. Iconic collectibles.

Kansai Super Studio (90s) – A more accessible version, exploring streetwear and urban wear with the designer's exuberant DNA.

David Bowie Capsules – Occasional reissues inspired by Bowie's costumes. Cult pieces, between fashion and pop culture.
