Michiko Koshino – London's streetwear pioneer
Based in London in the 1980s, Michiko Koshino (Junko's sister) quickly established herself as an influential figure in the international streetwear and clubwear scene. Her oversized designs, workwear-inspired pieces, and utilitarian silhouettes appealed to a generation seeking freedom. In the 1990s, her Michiko London Koshino line became a cult favorite in the British rave and techno scene, contributing to the rise of a Japanese urban aesthetic in Europe.
Michiko Koshino stands out for her ability to blend Japanese DNA with London's underground energy. Her vintage pieces, highly sought after today, embody one of the first bridges between Japanese fashion, club culture, and international streetwear. In the world of high-end secondhand goods, they retain iconic status, particularly among collectors of 80s and 90s pieces.
